Tourist goes missing while taking bath in sea

A tourist went missing while he was taking in Bay of Bengal at Kuakata in Potuakhali on Friday (May 27) noon.

He was known as Firoz Shikder, 27, fabric trader who hailed from Golachipa upazila of the district and son of late Milon Sikder of the area.

Tourist police and locals said Firoz along with his six friends reached Kuakata on Thursday evening and resided at Hotel Royal Palace. They went to Zero Point of Kuakata sea beach on Friday noon. Though all of them returned the shore, but Firoz went missing.

Abdul Khalek, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of Kuakata Tourist Police Zone, confirmed the matter. He said, “Fire Service was informed the matter. Tourist police are trying to rescue Firoz Sikder.

Mohammad Illias, Station Officer of Kolapara Fire Service, said, “We heard that a man went missing. A diving team was sent to the spot.”
