Additional Superintendent of Sardah Police Academy Mithun Sarkar received ‘SM Ahsan Memorial Award’ introduced by Bangladesh Retired Police Officers’ Welfare Association (BRPOWA) for his outstanding performance in community policing and social work.

The award was given at the 38th annual general meeting of the BRPOWA held at Bangladesh Police Auditorium in the capital’s Rajarbagh on Saturday (May 28).

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed was the chief guest at the award giving ceremony.

While addressing the function, the IGP said police are engaged in serving the country and its people.

He assured of further modernizing the police hospital.

The police chief also highlighted the role and contribution of Bangladesh Police during the coronavirus pandemic.

In reaction after receiving the award, Mithun Sarkar said, “Any award encourages to do hard work more. I have tried my best to serve the general people being very close to them when I was an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Birampur circle. I think the authority has given me this award for my performance in community policing and social work such as encouraging students for study, preventing drugs and early marriage.”

Mithun Sarkar joined the Bangladesh Police as an ASP in 33rd BCS.
