Sylhet’s rail communication with other parts of the country was suspended due to the floods caused by the onrush of hilly water from upstream and incessant rainfall.
Confirming the matter to risingbd on Saturday (June 18), Sajib Kumar Malakar, assistant station manager of Sylhet Railway Station, said, “Rail communication will remain closed until further notice as all rail lines in Sylhet went under water.”
“Some trains arrived at Sylhet railway station even this morning. But water level began to increase further as the day advances. Therefore, the authority suspended Sylhet’s rail communication with other parts of the country,” he added.
