Two students burnt with hot water by teacher

A madrasa teacher has allegedly poured hot water on two students, leaving them seriously burnt, at Kaliakoir in Gazipur.

The incident took place at Jamiah Arabia Rahim Newaz Khan Hafizia Madrasa at Shreefultoli area under Kaliakoir upazila of the district on Thursday (June 23) night.

The victims were known as Rakibul Islam, 15, son of Anwar Hossain of Syedpur area of Kaliakoir, and Abrar Hassan Jisan, 9, son of Sanowar Hossain of Shreefultoli area.

According to police, the teacher also shaved heads of the five other students at that time. Madrasa authorities did not agree to talk with families of victim students over the matter. Later, they made phone call on national emergency number 999. Then, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Hafizur Rahman of Kaliakoir Police Station said, “We had talked with both of the families. Steps would be taken if complainants are received.”
