2 killed in road crash on way back after seeing Padma bridge opening

Two people were killed and several others injured in a tragic road accident in Nagarkanda upazila of Faridpur on their way back after seeing the inauguration of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge.

The accident took place when a Dhaka-bound truck collided head-on with a passenger microbus on Dhaka-Khulna highway at Kandi area in Nagarkanda upazila of the district around 8:00 pm on Saturday (June 25).

The deceased could not be identified immediately but they were passengers of the microbus.

On information, police were sent to the spot and the injured were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital after they were recovered, said Md Hamiduddin Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhanga Highway Police Station.

Police are working to take necessary steps in this regard, he added.
