Three cops injured in Rangunia shootout with miscreants

Three policemen including Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dakshin Rangunia Police Station have been injured in a shootout with miscreants at Rangunia upazila in Chattogram.

Law enforcers arrested a miscreant named Kamal with firearms.

The incident took place at Azimpur Mohisher Bam area of the upazila on Tuesday (July 5) night.

Dakshin Rangunia Police Station OC Obaidul Islam, who sustained injuries, confirmed the matter.

Other injured cops were known as Sub-Inspector (SI) Abul Foye and Constable Md Zia Uddin. The injured are undergoing treatment at Rangunia Upazila Health Complex.

According to police, acting on a tip off that some eight to 10 accused of different cases had been staying at Azimpur Mohisher Bam area. A team of Dakshin Rangunia Police Station conducted a drive there to arrest them. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, miscreants started firing on them. Cops also retaliated to them in self-defence. At one stage, three cops including the OC sustained injureis.
