Two brothers electrocuted while hoisting flag

Two brothers were electrocuted while hoisting the national flag on the National Mourning Day (Monday) in Itna upazila of Kishoreganj district.

The deceased were identified as Hridoy Karmakar, 25, and Bijoy Karmakar, 18, sons of Nepal Karmakar of Nagarhati village in the upazila.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Itna Police Station Kamrul Islam Mollah confirmed the incident around 12:30pm on Monday (August 15). 

Quoting locals, the OC said Hridoy and Bijoy came in contact with a live electric wire when they were hoisting the national flag in front of the upazila food warehouse around 8:30 am.

They were rescued in critical condition and taken to Itna Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctors declared them dead, he added.
