Water added to fuel and then sold: Filling station owner fined

Siddikur Rahman, owner of a filling station, has been fined Tk 48,000 on the allegation of selling fuel after adding water to it at Gopalpur in Lalpur upazila of Natore.

Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (AC) (Land) Debashish Basak led a mobile court at M/S Satota Filling Station and fined its owner on Tuesday (August 16) morning.

Local people said at least 25 to 30 employees, who are working at Rooppur nuclear power plant, went to M/S Satota Filling Station in Gopalpur to take petrol for their motorcycles. They took required amount of petrol in their motorcycles. When they were trying to start their motorcycles, the motorcycles were not starting. Later, they informed the upazila nirbahi officer and police about the incident.

Being informed, Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (AC) (Land) Debashish Basak led a mobile court at M/S Satota Filling Station and found that water was added to fuel.

Afterwards, owner of the filling station Siddikur Rahman was fined Tk 48,000 under the Consumer Rights Protection Act.
