Karatoya trawler capsize: Death toll rises to 32

The death toll from the trawler capsize in the River Karatoya rose to 32 with the recovery of eight more bodies from the river.

Many more have still remained missing in connection with the trawler capsize.

Divers from the fire service resumed the search for the missing from Monday (September 26) morning.

24 bodies were recovered earlier in the day after the engine-run trawler packed with 60-70 passengers capsized in Karatoya in Boda upazila of Panchagarh.

The trawler carrying 60-70 passengers, including women and children, sank in the middle of the river while heading towards Badheshwar Temple on the occasion of Mayalaya around 2:30pm yesterday.
