A huge sensation has been created after an anonymous letter arrived in the office of the Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC). The letter has been sent to Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, which mentions name of Rajshahi Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Chairman Habibur Rahman on sender’s place. However, refusing of sending any letter, education board chairman called the matter ‘purposeful’ and demanded investigation in this regard.
It was learned that the letter reached the mayor’s office on July 18. RCC reported the matter to the Ministry of Local Government as the letter contained veiled threats, abusive words, insolent comments. Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government Mohammad Zahurul Islam sent a letter to the Secretary of the Ministry of Education on August 24 to take action in this regard.
The letter requested for further action against the education board chairman. After that, Deputy Secretary of Disciplinary Affairs Division of the Ministry of Education Mohammad Abu Naser Baig asked the education board chairman for an explanation on the matter in a letter on September 22 and gave him 10 days for replies.
Chairman of the Board of Education Professor Md Habibur Rahman said an objectionable letter with fake signature has been sent to the mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC). No reminder number of Rajshahi Education Board was used in the letter. The letter was posted from Uposhohor post office, which the board chairman learned from the mayor’s office. But all official letters of Rajshahi Education Board are posted from GPO-6000 attached to the Board. He also mentioned that the type of pad and format used in the letter is not used in any official letter of Rajshahi Education Board.
Whoever sent letter to the Mayor to create confusion about the Chairman of the Board of Education deserves an investigation. The Rajshahi Education Board is embarrassed over the matter and the Chairman of the Education Board has nothing to do with it.
When Habibur Rahman was contacted on Friday afternoon to comment in this regard, he told the same thing and said, “A normal person would not write the language of the letter. It is a fake letter. Any vested quarter has sent the letter to the mayor to malign me.”
Habibur Rahman said, “I have informed the matter to the mayor. I have also explained to the Ministry of Education. Whoever sent this letter should be investigated.”
