20 shops gutted in Noakhali fire

At least 20 shops were burnt in a fire caused by gas cylinder explosion at Joyag Bazar in Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali.
The fire incident took place around 5:30 am on Tuesday (November 29).
Owners of the shops demanded that the fire caused a loss of at least Tk two crore.
Locals said a fire broke out after a gas cylinder exploded with a bang at a shop around 5:30 am. Later, the fire flared to other shops within moments, leaving at least 20 shops burnt.
Being informed, members of fire service & civil defence in Sonaimuri rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control following an effort of two hours, said Rakibul Islam, station officer of the fire service.
The extent of the damage could be known only after the investigation into the fire incident, he added.
