One shot dead in Rangamati

One person was allegedly shot to death and another was bullet-injured by miscreants at Newlonkor Dari Para in Sajek union under Baghaichhari upazila of Rangamati on Wednesday (November 30) morning.

The deceased was identified as Sukhen Chakma, 20, and the injured was Sajib Chakma, 22. Both are the activists of Jana Sanghati Samity (JSS).

According to police and local source, a group of miscreants opened fire on Sukhen when he along with his cousin Sajib Chakma was passing through the area on a motorbike around 9:00am, leaving Sukhen dead on the spot and Sajib injured.

Tridip Chakma, organising secretary of Baghaichhari upazila unit JSS, blamed United People’s Democratic Front for the killing.

Additional Superintendent of Rangamati police Mahmuda Begum said security has been beeped up in the area soon after the incident.
