Cocktail blast in Faridpur: 8 BNP men arrested

The police have arrested eight BNP leaders and activists in a sabotage case filed over setting fire to tires and cocktail explosions in Faridpur’s Boalmari upazila.
They were sent to court on Friday (December 2) afternoon.
Earlier, Sub-Inspector (SI) Kazi Abul Bashar of Boalmari police station registered a case in the incident on Thursday (December 1) night.
The arrestees were known as Boalmari Municipal BNP Vice President Ataur Rahman Khan, Upazila BNP Member Faridul Islam, Municipal Ward No. 6 BNP President Rafiq Biswas, Dadpur Union BNP President Hamidul Haque Bakul, Faridpur District Juba Dal Assistant Secretary for Forest and Environment Siraj Mridha, Shekhar UP Member Barkat Molla, Abu Nasir Molla and Murad.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Boalmari Police Station Akkas Ali confirmed the matter and said, “31 people have been named and 50-60 unknown people have been accused in the case. Drive to arrest the rest of the accused continues”.
Faridpur Assistant Superintendent of Police (Madukhali Circle) Suman Kar said, “The arrestees were sent to court in the afternoon.”
Mentioable, on Thursday (December 1) morning miscreants set fire to tires on the Majhkandi-Bhatiapara regional highway of the upazila and detonated cocktails. On receiving the information, police reached the spot and recovered four cocktails along with parts of the exploded cocktails.
