Two minors killed in fire inside locked house

Two children were burned to death in a locked house at Uttar Jhikarhati village under Ghatmazhi union of Madaripur sadar upazila on Monday noon.

After the incident, the mother and grandmother of two babies have remained absconding.

Names of the two victims, aged from one to two years, could not be known immediately, but their father was Manik Boiddo at Shirkhara village. He is now in jail in a stealing case.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madaripur Thana Manowar Hossain confirmed the news.

According to locals, Manik rented the house and used to live with his wife, mother-in-law and two children but the couple used to make quarrel. On Monday morning, their mother and grandmother left them unattended and went out of the house after locking the door from outside. Locals noticed smoke, they rushed to the spot and doused the fire. Later, police and fire service men recovered bodies of two children.
