One killed in Rangamati shooting

A man was killed in a shelling between two regional groups in Rangamati’s Kaptai upazila.

The shooting took place between the Shantu Larma-led Jana Samhati Samiti (JSS) and Mog Liberation Party (MLP) in Gangrichhara area of Raikhali union in the upazila on Wednesday (January 25) afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Samrat, 32.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandraghona police station Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury confirmed the incident.

The OC said that the shooting took place between JSS (Santu Larma) and MLP in Gangrichhara area of ward no 4 of Raikhali union.

After receiving information, a joint patrol team of the army and the police went to the spot, recovered the body of the deceased and brought it to Chandraghona police station at 11pm, said the OC.

The body is currently in police custody, the OC added.
