Youth drowns in Padma River

A youth drowned in the Padma River in Pathanpara area of Rajshahi on Friday noon (March 3).

The deceased was known as Sohail, 18, son of Golam Azam, of C and B intersection of Rajshahi city.

Rajshahi Naval police officer-in-charge (OC) Obaidul Haque said the victim joined a local Ijtema program in Rajshahi central Eidgah field on Friday. He went to Padma River for bathing in Padma River. At one stage, Shohail was swept away by the current. His friends tried to rescue him but failed.

A case of unnatural death will be filed in this regard, the OC added.
