KCC polls: Women candidates suffering extremely

In Khulna City Corporation (KCC), the women candidates are suffering extremely while campaigning in the huge area of four wards amid the scorching sun.

It is noticed that 31 general wards have been divided into ten reserved seats in the KCC. While 31 wards are open to both men and women, ten reserved seats are fixed for only women. As a result, each seat consists of three wards and each reserved seat consists of four wards.

39 women councillor candidates of reserved 10 wards are facing difficulties while campaigning. They have to travel at least three times more area than male candidates of general ward amid acute heat. Women candidates are panting while conducting the campaign. Voters believe that the main contest will be around the incumbent councillor in all the wards.

Voting to Khulna City Corporation is scheduled to be held on June 12.

Following the election, a festive situation is prevailing over campaigning in the 31 wards of the city.
