Chief Justice vows to protect constitution, establish rule of law

Newly-appointed Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan has said he will work to protect the constitution and establish the rule of law in the country.
The new Chief Justice said this while talking to the journalists after paying tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at his mausoleum in Tungipara of Gopalganj on Thursday.
A special munajat, seeking eternal peace of Bangabandhu and other martyrs of the August 15 carnage and martyrs of the Liberation War, was also offered.
Hassan, the 24th Chief Justice of the country, said Bangabandhu gave us a country. He also gave us the constitution to run the country, and it is the responsibility of all judges of the Supreme Court to protect that.
He also attended a programme marking the holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi.
The CJ signed the visitors' book at the Tungipara Mausoleum Complex.
Justices of both the High Court and the Appellate Division, officials, Judges of Gopalganj District and Sessions Judge Court, Magistrate of Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, among others, were present.
