National Mourning Day observed at IU

H K Jibon from IU: The authorities of Islamic University observed the National Mourning Day on the campus in Kushtia on Saturday with due respect and solemnity, marking the 45th death anniversary of the country’s founding president Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Marking the day, IU Vice-chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari hoisted the national flag at half-mast while IU Pro-VC Professor M Shahinoor Rahman hoisted a black flag in front of the university administration building at around 10:00am.

A mourning rally was brought out from the administrative building, led by the university vice-chancellor, around 10:30am.

The rally ended in front of the university's Mrittunjoyee Mujib mural after parading main roads of the campus.

Later, the university authorities, IU Shapla Forum, Bangabandhu Parishad, different departments, IU BCL unit, teacher, officer, staffs and student associations placed floral wreaths at Mrittunjoyee Mujib mural to pay tribute to Bangabandhu.

Among others, IU VC, Pro-VC, treasurer Professor M Selim Toha, acting registrar SM Abdul Latif, IU Shapla Forum general secretary Professor M Mahbubar Rahman, IIER director Professor M Maher Ali, International students' affairs cell director Professor M Shahadat Hossain Azad were present on the occasion.
