Educationists want effective policy in online classes

Although the online classes started during the ongoing coronavirus crisis but no research-survey is taken place about the merits and demerits of the process. Even, there is no effective policy in this regard.

Educationists said the duration, graphic of visual classes, types of sound should be checked. There is a lack of technical knowledge of them who are running these classes. Technology has both advantages-disadvantages. A specific policy is needed considering the overall issues.

Students are losing interest in online classes due to too many lengthy classes, dull presentations. Many institutions took four-hour-long online classes daily. It’s become tough to sit before computers for such a long time.

On the other hand slow internet connection, longtime use of headphone,s and 3-4 hours long sitting in front of computer monitors create eye problems for the children.

While contacted, Dhaka University’s Social Science faculty dean professor Dr Sadeka Halim said, “We have formed a policy for online education considering overall problems of students. I think, the issue of students should be checked first in this case.”

UGC member professor Alamgir said, “Decision to run online classes was taken to reduce the damage of education during coronavirus pandemic. As a result, students didn’t face a huge problem. However, a policy is needed now to bring discipline.”
