Attending institutions for all teachers not mandatory: Edu ministry

The education ministry has said that it is not mandatory for all teachers to attend their respective schools and colleges during the closure of the educational institutions.

Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education under the Ministry of Education sent a letter in this regard to its education officials across the country yesterday which has been published on the website of the ministry today (October 14).

A letter headlined “Sudden Inspection to Education Offices and Educational Institutions” was issued from the Monitoring and Evaluation Wing of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education on September 22, according to the Ministry’s website.

In that letter, it was mentioned that all teachers except for the concerned teachers and staff involved in the operation of various labs and maintenance of ICT equipment, regular hoisting of national flag and administrative activities of the educational institution need not attend institutions on a mandatory basis, the website said.

Many educational institutions including those in the capital have been forcing all of their teachers to attend the institutions following a letter issued by the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education in September last. In response to that letter, the Monitoring and Evaluation Wing of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education said that all teachers need not attend their respective schools and colleges.
