In which method university admission test to be held?

The Vice-Chancellors of the country’s public universities have decided to hold admission test even in coronavirus situation. 

However, they could not reach any final decision on the method of admission test at the meeting held on Saturday (October 17). For this reason, the University Grants Commission (UGC) will take a final decision on the basis of the opinion of the Vice-Chancellors at a later date.

National University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Harun-ur-Rashid said, “During the meeting, there is a proposal to use the software invented by Prof. Dr. Munaj Noor of the VC of Bangabandhu Digital University. Everyone has also appreciated this proposal. Now the proposal will be sent to the Ministry of Education and UGC and it will be verified there.”

When asked, whether the autonomous universities, including Dhaka University (DU) will come in the admission process, Professor Harun-ur-Rashid said, “In that case, there may be necessary to hold exams in several phases like science, agriculture, general, in this way.”

However, DU VC Md Akhtaruzzaman has not yet made a final decision on the admission test. He said it has not been decided yet how the admission test of DU will be held. A quick decision will be taken after discussing with the Academic Council, Dean Committee and other stakeholders.

Muhammad Rafiqul Alam, VC of Chittagong University of Science and Technology, also President of the University Vice-Chancellor’s Council, said, “It has been decided that students will be admitted through admission test. The decision will be finalised in another meeting next month.
