No annual exams for secondary students: Minister

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni

National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) is preparing a new syllabus, and students will be given weekly assignments. The syllabus will have to be completed within 30 working days.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni announced this during a virtual press conference on Wednesday noon.

She said  no annual exams will be held for secondary students. A short syllabus will be given to the heads of the institutions. They will take weekly assignments in coordination with parents. The secondary level students will be promoted to the next classes after evaluating their assignments.

Students will have to collect these assignments and complete within a week and submit those. Teachers will assess these assessments to understand students’s  weakness and try to fix them.

If students do not have access to TV or websites, they have been urged to contact their educational institutions to collect the syllabus and assignments.

Due coronavirus pandemic, this year's Primary Education Completion (PEC), Ebtedayee Madrasa Certificate (EEC), Junior School Certificate (JSC), Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations have been canceled.
