Admission into schools through lottery: Education Minister

Admission into government and non-government schools for the upcoming academic year will take place through lottery due to the ongoing corona pandemic in the country.

Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni confirmed the matter at a virtual press conference on Wednesday.

She mentioned that the whole process will be informed by December 6.

She also said this year the catchment area will be 50 per cent instead of 40 per cent. In case of cluster-based admission, five schools have to be selected in lottery.

The education minister also warned to take strict actions if the admission fee in private schools is increased.

Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury was also present.
