Probe committee recommends legal action against Dr Kalimullah

The probe committee of University Grants Commission (UGC) has recommended legal action against Begum Rokeya University vice-chancellor Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah.

The UGC in its investigation report on Saturday (March 6) said, the action against him has been recommended on charge of gross irregularities and corruption in development projects at the university in Rangpur.

UGC probe committee member Ferdous Zaman said, “We have recommended legal action against him. He changed the design of three plans of a project and increased the cost by 130 percent. Removing previous advisor, he appointed his nephew as project advisor. Now the project task is remained shut. 

Probe committee sources said the work of the project began four years ago. They are – two 10-storey buildings (Sheikh Hasina Dormitory and Dr Wazed Mia Research Institution) and a mausoleum at the university. The project was scheduled to end in 2018. But, VC Kalimullah modified the project plans approved by the ECNEC and also changed the plans without a valid ground.
