No auto pass in SSC-HSC, assignment evaluation if necessary

Though the government had decided to reopen the educational institutions several times this year, it was not possible due to the coronavirus pandemic. As a result, the SSC and HSC examinations have fallen in uncertainty. However, the Ministry of Education wants to arrange examinations under the conventional system even on a short scale. If that is not possible then concerned people are planning to promote the students to the next class through evaluating assignments.

Assignments are being given to SSC and HSC candidates in light of the short syllabus considering the plan. These activities have also been suspended due to the current strict lockdown situation across the country. It will resume at the end of the lockdown. However, the concerned authorities are still thinking of holding the examinations at a convenient time of the year.

Professor Dr Syed Md. Golam Faruk, Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) said, “We want to give promotion to the students to the next class through examination. However, if for some reasons it is not possible to hold examinations, they will be assessed through assignment.”

He said, “Auto pass will not be given under any circumstances this time. We asked to save the assignments we gave. If exams are held, students will be evaluated through assignment.”

Mentionable, HSC candidates of 2020 were given auto pass due to the coronavirus pandemic. Besides, students of sessions-2020/21 of the National University (NU) were also given auto pass on conditions. The condition is they will have to appear in examinations at some time later.
