Cracks appear in SM Hall’s veranda roof, students asked to leave

Cracks were found in the roof of veranda of Salimullah Muslim (SM) hall of the Dhaka University (DU). Students who reside there were asked move elsewhere with their belongings to avoid risks on lives by October 7.
A committee, making Hall Provost Professor Md Mojibur Rahman convener, has already been formed taking the issue with importance. The committee includes two engineers of the university and three experts of Buet.
A press release signed by SM Hall’s Provost Professor Mojibur Rahman revealed the matter on Saturday (September 25).
It said, “Cracks were found in the roof of southern and western parts of veranda of SM Hall. Now it is very risky to keep any kind of bed or heavy furniture in that verandah. In addition, as per the decision of university authorities, no student can reside there anymore. So, students reside there are asked to move elsewhere with their belongings by October 7.”
