Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has said that the government will take decision to shut educational institutions if the coronavirus infection increases further. However, there is no plan to take such decision right now.

She told this to the reporters after holding a meeting with Deputy Commissioners (DCs) at the capital’s Osmani Memorial Auditorium on Tuesday (January 18).

Dipu Moni said, “When the educational institution will shut down, virtual classes can be started; DCs have been instructed to take preparations for this. Where it is not possible to take virtual classes, there students will have to rely on assignments.”

She said, “Deputy Commissioners (DCs) have proposed to keep technical education in all institutions. It will be done. It has been proposed to keep DCs in the recruitment process committee in high schools and colleges at upazila level.”

The education minister further said that so far 85 lakh students between the ages of 12 and 18 have been vaccinated. The decision to vaccinate younger less than 12 has not yet been made.
