Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has said that the government has taken a decision to extend weekly holidays to two days (Friday and Saturday), in all educational institutions.

She said, “The decision will be effective from 2023. Students who are joining the new curriculum earlier will also get two days off a week.”

The Minister said this at the inauguration of the new curriculum of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) on Saturday (19 February).

Dipu Moni said, “Not just knowledge; The goal of the new curriculum is to acquire skills. That is the path of our future.”

She said, “Piloting will continue at present, it will be implemented in 62 educational institutions. If it is successful, it will be implemented from 2023, initially from 6th and 7th class. And in 2024, it will be implemented in 8th and 9th class.”

Education Minister said, “We will see if the students are becoming proficient according to the new curriculum. When we get feedback from students on the implementation of the 4th Industrial Revolution, we feel successful.”

Seeking cooperation of all in this regard, Education Minister said, “For this, training of teachers and laboratory will be required. If an organization cannot manage that on its own, we will provide”.
