The International Day of Peace is being observed today across the world. The day is observed each year on 21 September to strengthen the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and people. This year the theme of the International Day of Peace or World Peace Day is "recovering better for an equitable and sustainable world".

The UN in 1981 first named the third Tuesday of September as International Day of Peace. The date to celebrate International Day of Peace was eventually changed to September 21 starting 2002.

On this day, the aim is to observe a ceasefire for 24 hours in all areas across all nations where fighting is going on. Some countries continue to share borders that have had a violent and bloody past and some still continue to maintain peace through all the political tensions.

Writers, philosophers, great politicians along with many others have voiced for establishing peace. Noted Bangladeshi poet, lyricist and composer Mahbubul Khalid is among them.

Mahbubul Khalid has penned many songs on peace and human rights. Among them ‘Juddho Noy Shanti Chai' (No more War, we want Peace) is noteworthy. Late composer Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul tuned the music of the song which called on to establish peace. Young singer Rajib rendered his voice.

A music video of the song has recently been released on YouTube's ‘Khalid Sangeet' channel. Besides, the song has been published on Mahbubul Khalid’s musical website ‘khalidsangeet.com’.

About the song, lyricist Mahbubul Khalid said: Establishing peace is must for humankind. The world will be peaceful if we live in harmony forgetting violence, hatred, bloodshed, division among caste and creed. The message is conveyed through this song. Hope everyone will love it.
