Directives to cut off power consumption by 25% in educational institutions

The government has issued a five-point directive to reduce electricity consumption by 25 percent and fuel consumption by 20 percent in the country’s all educational institutions and concerned offices.

A notification signed by Bipul Chandra Biswas, deputy director (general administration) of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE), was issued in this regard on Sunday (July 24).

The directives are:

1.    Electricity consumption in DSHE and all offices and educational institutions under it should be reduced by 25 percent. The heads of the institutions will confirm the matter. A report in this regard must be sent to the Monitoring and Evaluation Wing of the directorate by the 3rd of every month.
2.    The monthly fuel availability of teacher-employee vehicles must be reduced by 20 percent.
3.    The meetings which can be held online, should be avoided in person.
4.    Officers who have AC in their rooms should be operated at 26 degrees Celsius.
5.    A monitoring team should be formed in every office and educational institution to monitor whether electricity and energy are being used properly as per the mentioned directives. A cost-effectiveness report has been asked to be sent to the Monitoring and Evaluation Wing of DSHE by the 3rd of every month.
