Raveena Tandon conferred with Padma Shri

Actress Raveena Tandon has been conferred with Padma Shri.

She is among the 106 recipients of Padma Awards.

RRR’s music composer MM Keeravaani and singers Suman Kalyanpur and Vani Jairam are also among this year’s Padma Shri awardees.

Padma Awards, one of the highest civilian Awards of the country, are conferred in three categories— Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.

The Awards are given in various fields of activities like social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and arts. Raveena Tandon received Padma Shri in the field of art.

Raveena Tandon made her debut with Patthar Ke Phool in 1991. She won Filmfare Award for New Face of the Year for her performance. Eventually, she played female leads in Diwale, Mohra, Ziddi and Shiladiyon Ka Kiladi, and established herself as one of the leading heroines.

She was known for her films with Govinda, which were commercially successful comedy films. Some of the films include Dulhe Raja, Anari No 1 and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Raveena did not restrict herself to playing similar roles. In fact, she was also part of arthouse cinema as well. Post her marriage, she ventured into television and made a name for herself in that medium as well.
