Instructions for prescribing subjects as per new syllabus

The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has issued instructions to the secondary level teachers to determine the subjects in accordance with the new curriculum.

According to the announcement, the heads of the educational institutions will determine the subjects of the teachers and make entries in the database by September 10.

The information was revealed in an office order of DSHE on Saturday (September 3).

According to the office order, from the 2023 academic year, learning activities are going to be started with the help of the curriculum and textbooks prepared in light of the National Curriculum Outline 2021 in the sixth and seventh grades of secondary level schools, madrasas and technical educational institutions across the country. The new curriculum has undergone major changes. It needs to provide subject-specific training to teachers for implementation of the curriculum and to determine the subjects at the secondary level according to the new curriculum before imparting training.

It further stated that a module has been developed on the EMIS website (www.emis.gov.bd) to update the database of teachers by determining the subjects at the secondary level in light of the National Curriculum Outline. Heads of secondary level public and private educational institutions of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education who have EIIN number can log on to the EMIS website (www.emis.gov.bd) to determine the subject of teachers in their educational institutions. All non-MPO teachers who have not registered will also register and determine the subject.
