IWPG advisory committee inaugurates with First Lady of São Tomé and Príncipe

Global Region 3 of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) had an inauguration with Maria de Fatima Afonso Villa Nova, the First Lady of São Tomé and Príncipe as the IWPG advisory committee who visited the Republic of Korea on June 5 during South Korea–Africa Summit, 2024, according to a press release.

The IWPG has had close ties with the First Lady who had participated in 2023 International Women’s Peace Conference as a congratulatory speech and has continued to work with the IWPG as a peace cooperation partner.

The IWPG officially appointed that the First Lady as the advisor committee of IWPG and discussed forming the peace committee in São Tomé and Príncipe. Through this, the IWPG Global Region 3 expects to hold the international loving peace art competition and cooperate for children’s peace education in São Tomé and Príncipe.

Heo Eun-Ju, the Regional Director of the Global Region 3, said, “I am grateful to be able to work with First Lady as the IWPG advisor committee. I hope more active cooperation for peace hand in hand.”

First Lady expressed her feelings, saying, “We want IWPG to visit Sao Tome Principe, and we are all one in peace.”

IWPG is an NGO registered at the UN ECOSOC and UNN DGC. Headquartered in South Korea, the organization has more than 110 branches and 660 cooperative organizations around the world. With the vision of “realizing sustainable world peace,” IWPG is working actively for various peace activities such as international women peace network, spreading peace culture and uniting with women organizations together for urging the legislation of DPCW.
