Russian airstrike kills 17 prison inmates in Ukraine

A Russian attack has killed at least 17 inmates at a prison near Zaporizhzhia, Ukrainian officials have said, with 35 more injured in the overnight bombing.
Eight strikes were reported as likely involving glide bombs, which also damaged nearby homes and left buildings inside the complex in ruins.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's chief of staff has condemned the attack as a war crime.

In the Dnipro region of central Ukraine, authorities said Russian missiles partially destroyed a three-story building and damaged nearby medical facilities, including a maternity hospital and a city hospital ward.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that across the country, 22 people were killed in Russian strikes on 73 cities, towns and villages. "These were conscious, deliberate strikes - not accidental," Zelenskyy said on Telegram.
