Global coronavirus death toll surpasses 1 million

The global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 1 million. According to the epidemic data publisher Worldometer, the number of global coronavirus infection rose to 3,31,69,393 as of 9:30pm while the death toll climbed to 10,00,175.

The first coronavirus outbreak occurred in Wuhan, China, in December last year. It started spreading in different countries of the world from last February. In the last June, the number of infection and death from coronavirus began to decrease across the world.

However, in August, new infections began to increase in many countries. Health experts say this is the second wave of coronavirus. The death rate in this second phase is comparatively less than that of the first phase.

According to the graph published in the Worldometer, the number of death due to coronavirus in a single day in the world on April 17 was 8, 513. This number was 5,819 on September 25. The United States is still on top in the list of death toll. A total of 2,09,230 people have died of coronavirus in the country so far. Brazil and India are next in the list.
