Another variant of coronavirus identified in Brazil

Another new variant of coronavirus has been identified in Brazil. Four people have already been detected in Japan who are contracting the new form of the deadly virus.

However, it could not be known immediately whether this new form intensifies the symptoms of Covid-19.

There have been three major mutations in the Receptor-Binding Domain (RBD) of the coronavirus form found in Brazil, which experts say is a large reflection of the identified variant in South Africa.

RBD of coronavirus is the main target of our immunity and also the main target of vaccines. The change in this RBD is obviously a matter of concern.
 
Experts say the new variant was discovered last December in Manaus, on the banks of the Negro River in northwestern Brazil, which is the capital of the vast state of Amazonas.

The new variant of coronavirus has been identified among four people who flew to Japan from Amazon of Brazil last month. Researchers in Tokyo are working to determine if the new coronavirus vaccine is effective against this form.

Meanwhile, the British government has imposed a travel ban on passengers from South America since Friday.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he is “concerned” about the new form coronavirus. He also announced to take steps in this regard.

Mentionable, two new forms of coronavirus were identified in the UK and South Africa last month. The new form that was discovered in Wuhan, China, in December 2019, is more contagious than the two new ones.
