Saima Mohsin is the first Muslim woman attorney in USA

Pakistani-American Saima Mohsin is joining as the first Muslim woman attorney in the United States.

She will take over in Detroit, Michigan on February 2.

In the United States, attorneys are the chief central law enforcement officers in each district. And he or she oversees cases involving the United States government.

The President appoints one attorney in each of the 94 federal districts.

Current attorney Matthew Schneider will end his term on February 1, The Detroit Free Press, Michigan's largest newspaper, reported Monday.

Schneider, who has been in office for three years, announced his resignation last Thursday, saying Mohsin, the current 1st assistant attorney in eastern Michigan, would replace him.

Born in Pakistan, Mohsin has been serving as a federal prosecutor for over a decade since 2002, when she served in the US Attorney's Office.
With the approval of the US Senate, She will become a permanent attorney.
