The Malaysian government has imposed a ban on the entry of Bangladeshis to prevent the spread of the coronavirus variant, which is currently widespread in India. The list also includes Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
Malaysian senior defence minister Ismail Sabri Yakcop said this in a press briefing on Wednesday (May 5).
Earlier, citizens of several countries including Bangladesh were barred from entering Malaysia as a high-risk country.
Recently, India was banned after identifying Indian variant of the coronavirus in the body of a passenger from the country. Following this, a travel ban was imposed on India’s neighboring countries, the minister said.
