Global death toll from Covid-19 exceeds 49 lakh

About 7,000 more people have died of Coronavirus (Covid-19) infections and over three lakh people have been infected with the virus across the world in a day. With the new deaths, the total number of deaths in the virus exceeded 49 lakh.

A total of 6,958 more people died from coronavirus infections worldwide in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of deaths in the virus to 49,04,650. On the other hand, the death toll in the virus was 7,663 in the previous day.

Besides, some 3,35,544 people tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19) worldwide over the same period, raising the total number of infected cases to 24,08,23,577. But a day before, the number of daily coronavirus cases was 4,51,600.

Meanwhile, some 21,80,76,826 people have made recoveries from the virus infections across the world so far.

International survey organisation Worldometer disclosed the information on Saturday (October 16) morning.

The first coronavirus outbreak occurred in Wuhan, China, in December of 2019. It started spreading in different countries of the world since then.
