Matiur Rahman disappeared

Matiur Rahman, a now removed member of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), has remained missing after the much-talked goat scandal.

However, he was shown joined the concerned ministry, according to the formal documents.

The sources in the Internal Resources Department, said that Matiur Rahman was removed from his previous post and attached to the Internal Resources Department. But, he did not even go to the ministry after being attached to the department. He has joined there by sending the joining letter through another person.

Wishing anonymity, an official of the finance ministry, said that there is a provision for OSD for officers of the Ministry of Public Administration. Apart from this, there is a procedure of connecting officials to other departments, agencies or ministries instead of OSD. That is what has been done in the case of Matiur Rahman.

The official also said that we have heard that Matiur Rahman is now out of the country. May be that’s why he joined the ministry sending joining letter by other people. There is no bar to join by sending letters through others.

Earlier, allegations of amassing illegal wealth surfaced after a video went viral showing Matiur’s son Mushfiqur Rahman Ifat buying a goat for Tk 15 lakh during Eid-ul-Azha.

A three-member committee has already been formed to probe the allegations against Matiur with a deputy director as the head to investigate the allegation.
