20km tailback on Dhaka-Aricha highway

Holidaymakers ahead of Eid-ul-Azha have been suffering immensely on Dhaka-Aricha highway for a long tailback since Thursday evening.
A 20-kilometre-long tailback has been created on Dhaka-Aricha highway, leaving thousands of homebound people stranded on the road.
Huge pressure of vehicles and suspension of ferry service on Thursday midnight were cited as the reason of the gridlock.
On the other hand, vehicles were moving very slowly on the highway.
Last reported at 12:00pm, the tailback continued to persist on parts of the highway, the correspondent said.
The vehicles are moving very slowly due to huge pressure vehicles on the Dhaka-Aricha highway, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Golra Highway Thana Md Monirul Islam said. “We are trying to ease the situation since morning,” he added.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shibalaya Thana Md Feroj Kabir said huge pressure of vehicles and suspension of ferry service have created 20-kilometre-long tailback on the highway.
