People from all walks of life pay homage to Bangabandhu

Along with President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, people from all walks of life have paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his portrait marking his 45th martyrdom anniversary.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid homage to the architect of the independence by placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi Road No. 32 in the capital at 5.30am.  Her daughter Saima Wazed Hossain Putul was also present there.

After placing wreaths, the Prime Minister stood in solemn silence for some time showing respect to the great leader.

A smartly turned out contingent of Bangladesh Armed Forces gave state salute at that time, while bugle played tune of grief and somber to the last post.

Later, the Awami League under the leadership of its General Secretary Obaidul Quader paid homage. Leaders of 14 parties also paid their respects.

Besides thousands of people, Mahanagar North and South Awami League, Juba League, Chhatra League, Mahila Awami League, Juba Mahila League, Krishak League, Sramik League, Tanti League, Swechchhasebak League, Bangabandhu Awami Ainjibi Parishad, various social and cultural organizations and institutions paid homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu.

Atiqul Islam, mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, mayor of South City Corporation (DSCC), and various ministries paid homage to Bangabandhu.

People from all walks of life including school and college students, children and teenagers holding black banners in their hands and black badges on their chests, paid homage to Bangabandhu.

Various political parties including Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasad),  Workers Party and Tarikat Federation paid homage.

Tributes were paid by Dhaka University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Jagannath University, University Grants Commission, National University, Open University, National Press Club,  National Human Rights Commission and Supreme Court Bar Association.
