N’ganj fire originates from electric spark: Probe committee

The fire broke out at Narayanganj mosque had been originated from electric short circuit through an electric spark, according to primary investigation of the probe committee.

Probe committee formed by Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd (TGTDCL) said this on Thursday (September 17).

The committee said, damage of raping in gas pipe caused a leakage at Baitus Salat Jam-e-Mosque in Narayanganj. Gas was stored there from the leakage. Later, a spark from electric would originate the devastating fire.

According to the report, mosque committee on its own initiative buried the old lines removing the pipes.

On September 4, an explosion in the mosque seriously burnt devotees during Isha prayers. Later, 29 people died at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
