Appellate division upholds bail order to bdnews24 editor-in-chief

The Appellate Division has upheld the High Court's (HC) bail order granted to bdnews24.com Editor-in-Chief Toufique Imrose Khalidi in a case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
A bench of the Appellate Division, headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, passed the order on Monday (September 21).
Advocate Abdul Matin Khasru moved for Toufique Imrose Khalidi while lawyer Khurshid Alam stood for the ACC.
Earlier on September 7, the watchdog filed petition seeking stay on the HC’s bail order granted to Toufique Imrose.
On August 26, the HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Mostafizur Rahman granted Khalidi an eight-week anticipatory bail in a case filed over illegal acquisition of assets.
