Music director Shawkat Emon denied bail

A Dhaka court on Tuesday (Sept 29) rejected a bail plea of National Film Award winning music director Shawkat Ali Emon in a dowry case filed by her wife.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Millat Hossain turned down his bail plea and ordered police to send him to jail.
 
Earlier, Emon was produced before the court. His lawyer Selim AK Mujahedi submitted a bail petition.

Earlier on the night of September 25, Ramna thana police arrested Shawkat Ali Emon from his residence at Eskaton in the capital.

The next day, on September 26, the court rejected his bail petition and ordered to send him to jail.

Emon married news presenter Ridita Reza on February 27. This was his third marriage.

On September 20, Emon's wife Ridita Reza filed a case with Ramna Police Station.
