Padma Bridge’s 33rd span being installed

The 33rd span of the Padma Multi Purpose Bridge is being installed on the 3rd and 4th pillars at Mawa point of Louhoganj. The installation work began at 9.00am on Monday.

Confirming the matter, Executive Engineer of the Padma Bridge Project Dewan Abdul Kader said the 33rd span is being installed on the designated pillars.

Earlier, the 32nd span of Padma Bridge was installed on October 11.

The main shape of the 6.15 km long multipurpose bridge will be two-storey. The structure of this mega project, which is one of the best in the country, is being constructed with concrete and steel.

On October 14, 2018, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina unveiled the name plaque of Padma Bridge Toll Plaza at the Mawa end.

The construction work of Padma Bridge started in December 2014. The main bridge is being built by China Major Bridge Engineering Company, a Chinese contractor, and Sinohydro Corporation, another company in the country, is working on river management.
