Cabinet issues instructions to ensure use of masks

The cabinet has issued instructions to ensure the use of masks to fight against possible second wave of coronavirus infection.

The instructions were made in the regular meeting of the cabinet with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in chair on Monday (October 19).

PM joined the cabinet meeting through video conference. Others ministers also joined the meeting virtually.

Cabinet secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam briefed media at the Secretariat after the meeting.

He said, “Special discussions were held on coronavirus in the cabinet meeting. The Prime Minister is paying special attention there. Everyone is asked to be careful, to make sure everyone wears a mask.”

Khandker Anwarul said, “If we all use masks, we are much less likely to get infected. No one should be in crowded areas, mosques, Durga Puja ceremonies without wearing mask under any circumstances.”

When asked if any instructions would be given to the field administration in this regard, he said, “We have told the administration, we have told the Islamic Foundation to make announcement about awareness in all the mosques through imams through loudspeakers or face-to-face after Zohar and Magrib prayers. Every mosque, other market or public place is a place where it is written that please no one should enter without a mask.”

He further said mobile court will also be conducted if necessary.
