Problem with Noujan Sramik to be resolved very soon: Khalid

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury has said that the problem with Bangladesh Noujan Sramik Federation will be resolved very soon.

The state minister said this while talking to journalists at the Secretariat on Thursday.

Regarding the strike of workers, the minister said that their main demand is food allowance. It is their legal demand. They went on strike twice in last year. We resolved those through  discussion. We have continued a discussion with the owners on behalf of the ministry, the Department of Shipping and BIWTA.  Hopefully, it will be resolved today.

Bangladesh Noujan Sramik Federation called for the strike from Tuesday saying they will not resume work unless their demands for food and sea allowances, appointment letters, identity cards and several other benefits are met.

Earlier, newly- appointed Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Kumar Doraiswami called on the state minister.
