Civil Aviation executive engineer jailed for 10 yrs

A Dhaka court has sentenced Asir Uddin, executive engineer of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), to 10 years’ imprisonment in a case filed over illegally amassing wealth of nearly Tk 3 crore.

Alongside, the court also ordered to confiscate all the properties he belonged to.

Judge Sheikh Nazmul Alam of Dhaka’s Special Judge Court-4 handed down the order on Sunday (October 25). 

Asir Uddin was present in the court during the announcement of the order. Later, he was sent to jail with warrant.

Mahfuza Khatun, deputy director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case with Ramna Police Station against Asir Uddin on May 14, 2017 for amassing wealth of nearly Tk 3 crore illegally from unknown sources.
